All my life, I have known that I wanted to help others. As an adolescent and teenager, I could be found babysitting, being a nanny, working at summer camps and listening to others. It didn’t take me long to realize that I wanted a career helping others and working with children. I began my career as an elementary school teacher in Harford County and quickly learned that I wanted to work with children, families, and teachers more directly. I earned a Master of Arts in School Counseling in 2012 from Loyola University Maryland. I have been working as a School Counselor for Harford County Public Schools since 2012. During this time, I developed a love for working with children and families individually to overcome obstacles in their lives. In 2018, I earned my state license as a Graduate Professional Counselor, which lead me to CTSA.
I am passionate about helping children become the best version of themselves. This cannot be done without the involvement of families. With my understanding of the school system, I can help children overcome obstacles that are impacting their education. I believe all children have the potential to do great things and having strong relationships and connections with others will help guide them on their path. I have experience working with ADHD, trauma, anxiety, school refusal, depression, relational issues, and grief. In counseling sessions, I will use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play therapy and mindfulness.
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my children, husband, and two dogs. I can often be found reading a good book, decorating my home, listening to music, doing yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
